The violinist Illya Gringolts is a soloist who not only dedicates himself to the established orchestra repertoire but also rarely played and contemporary works. Additionally, Gringolts’ interests lie in historical performance practices with early repertoire from composers like Locatelli or Leclair. Renowned composers have written new pieces for him, with names such as Chaya Czernowin, Lotta Wennäkoski, Mirela Ivičević, Augusta Read Thomas and Beat Furrer.

After numerous artistic cooperations worldwide, concerts with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg as well as the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, amongst others, are planned for the 2025/26 season. Furthermore, Gringolts is Artist in Residence of the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto. He is touring extensively with his musical partners of the Australian Chamber Orchestra. He gave concerts with well-known orchestras like the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Play-lead projects have regularly brought him together with orchestras like the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana and Ensemble Resonanz.

As first violinist of the Gringolts Quartet he has celebrated has enjoyed great success at many festivals like the Salzburg Festival, Edinburgh Festival and Teatro La Fenice in Venice. As a chamber musician, Ilya Gringolts regularly collaborates with artists such as Nicolas Altstaedt, Aleksandar Madžar and Lawrence Power. His broad discography with production for the Deutsche Grammophon and others is highly praised and has earned awards many times.

 After studying violin and composition in St. Petersburg, he attended the Juilliard School of Music. He remains the youngest winner of the International Violin Competition Premio Paganini and was named a BBC New Generation Artist. In addition to his professor position at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, Ilya Gringolts was appointed to the renowned Accademia Chigiana in Siena. He is also artistic advisor of the Mizmorim Festival in Switzerland. Ilya Gringolts plays a Guarneri »del Gesù« (1743) violin.
