The James Simon Gallery is the visitor centre for Berlin’s Museum Island and was built between 2009 and 2018 to a design by the British architect David Chipperfield. It replaces the Neuer Packhof, designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, which was demolished in 1938. The gallery is named after James Simon (1851–1932), a prominent patron and supporter of Berlin’s museums.
